We are...Network Technicians

We have been discovering the difference between the World Wide Web (WWW) and the Internet.

We have learned that the World Wide Web is NOT the Internet!!

We have discovered that the World Wide Web is a collection of webpages, whereas the internet is made up of cables, fibre, routers, switches etc. that connects computers together, or networks of computers to one another.  We use the Internet to access the WWW, as well as send emails, watch films & videos, send pictures, telephone or video call our friends & family, play online games, do our shopping online, etc.

We have also learned the difference between Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs), by investigating how our school computers are connected to each other and to the outside world, as well as how multi-national companies are connected to each other.

We are currently researching the founder of the World Wide Web, Sir Tim Berners-Lee.
