We have learnt:
Data is a collection of facts or information about something;
A database is where data is stored & organised in such a way that it can be searched to find information easily.
We have been looking at branching databases to help identify objects using specific questions, which can only be answered with YES or NO.
We played a guessing game with our partners to find out which piece of fruit they had chosen - we came up with lots of different questions - then we created a branching database.
Then, we were given the outline of a branching database about vegetables and we had to think of appropriate questions to lead us to the correct vegetable - we found this quite difficult to begin with!
Next, we worked together in small groups to build Branching Databases on paper before creating them on the computer.
