We discussed the different types of weather and how various aspects could be measured, i.e. temperature, rainfall, wind direction, etc. Then, we looked at the range of equipment used to record these measurements, both analogue and digital.
We gathered local weather data and entered it into a spreadsheet.
Once we had collected all the relevant data, we were able to plot graphs to show the rainfall, temperature and wind speed over a period of time.
Next, we watched some BBC weather forecasts to gather some weather-related phrases and collect some tips on how to best present the weather, i.e. good use of weather maps, looking at the camera, speaking clearly, etc.
Here we are practising our forecasts.
We worked in small groups to find an appropriate weather map and create short TV-style weather forecasts, which we then filmed against a green screen!
Here are some of our finished weather forecasts.
