We looked at a timeline of all the British Kings & Queens & studied the Tudor period, where we artistically recreated a tudor rose and designed our own shields. Then, we researched the life & long reign of Queen Elizabeth II and celebrated her Platinum Jubilee with an afternoon of dancing followed by a picnic (click here for pictures).
Here are some of our Tudor Roses:
"We scrunched up pieces of coloured tissue paper and stuck these onto card to give a 3D flower effect."
We enjoyed researching shields, emblems & Coats of Arms. We thought very carefully about the colours, patterns and animals, which represented each of us as individuals, before designing our own shields. One pupil had antipodean ancestry so chose a kangaroo for her shield.
