4th November, 2020
As you know, the country goes into a second lockdown from tomorrow, 5th November, until at least 2nd December. We will of course be open in line with government policy.
We have been informed that there will be an update to the guidance for schools following the change in the national strategy, I have not yet received this and will send out an update if required when it does arrive. In the meantime, please be assured that we will continue to be diligent in following our safety measures, including hygiene routines, bubbles and room ventilation, to keep everyone as safe as possible.
As we move into the cold weather season, one of the existing measures of control, to ensure that rooms are well ventilated, will become increasingly challenging. We will follow the strategies in the government guidance to help balance the need for increased ventilation with maintaining a comfortable temperature.
One of such measure is to be flexible with school uniform, to allow children to wear additional, suitable indoor clothing. As much as possible, I ask that any additional clothing follows our uniform colours and avoids large logos and designs. It is possible to purchase a school fleece from Jual, however I do not expect you to purchase items specifically to meet this request.
Children should continue to wear PE kit on Fridays, please make sure that it is suitable for outdoor lessons.
The full guidance for schools can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/actions-for-schools-during-the-coronavirus-outbreak/guidance-for-full-opening-schools
As we continue to work hard to ensure we follow all the measures of control to keep everyone as safe as possible, we ask that you continue to support us, and each other, by following the government guidance during the lockdown period which can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/new-national-restrictions-from-5-november
Children being collected from school
In line with the lockdown guidance we expect parents to collect their own children from school. However the guidance states that:
Parents are able to form a childcare bubble with one other household for the purposes of informal childcare, where the child is 13 or under.
If you have had to create such a bubble, please let the office know so that we can monitor adults coming onto the school sit, to ensure that the guidance is being followed.
A reminder that all adults need to socially distance whilst on the school site please. To limit the number of adults coming together, I ask that only one parent per family come on site to collect children.
Thank you for your continued support.
