Religion and Worldviews

This term Owls will be finding out about why Jewish people celebrate the festival of Passover.

By the end of this unit pupils will be able to: 

  • recall some of the most important events from the Passover story. 

  • raise and suggest answers to relevant questions in response to the story of Passover. 

Pupils will know: 

  • Moses showed Jewish people how important it is to follow God’s rules. 

  • the Torah teaches Jewish people what God is like and how to live their lives. 

  • Jewish people celebrate Passover every year.

Friday 24th April

Music 

Can you make a shaker? Using dried pasta, rice, bottles, cardboard box or pots, make a shaker. Use this to make music. Can you use it whilst singing familiar nursery rhymes?

 

Thursday 23rd April - Challenges

 

How many star jumps can you do in 30 seconds? Can you beat your record?

How many times can you write your name in 30 seconds? 

Can you stay silent for 1 minute? 

How long can you balance on one leg for? 

 

Can you make up your own? 

 

Wednesday 22nd April - Challenge 

Can you draw a picture or write a note for one or more of your friends in Owls class and write who it is to and from clearly on the front of it? Then if you send a photo of it to Mrs O'Leary's email and she will upload it on to the Owls page for you all to see.

Daily virtual Phonics lessons for children

 

Read Write Inc.  have Phonics lessons on Facebook and YouTube for children to watch at home. This is the same phonics package we use in schools. To view the lesson you need to subscribe to the follow youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ/about

 

They will release three short Speed Sound lessons with one of our trainers every day for the next two weeks. The films will only be available at the times below:

  • Set 1 Speed Sounds at 9.30 am and again at 12.30 pm
  • Set 2 Speed Sounds at 10.00 am and again at 1.00 pm - Owls class focus
  • Set 3 Speed Sounds at 10.30 am and again at 1.30 pm (Year 1/2)

 

Please note: Each lesson is ten to fifteen minutes long and available for 24 hours.

 

They have also released a film of a poem for Reception and Year 1 children to join in with at 2.00 pm every day. The poems are available on YouTube to watch again and again.

 

A great opportunity for children to learn these by heart!
